Back Home, forever Changed: ESBN Students Complete Their 1st Erasmus+ Journey in Italy

After one and a half months of learning, cultural exchange and unforgettable experiences in Rovigo, Italy, the Erasmus+ mobility project came to a successful conclusion on 5 July 2026, when the students from Escola Secundária Boa Nova, ESBN, Porto, Portugal, said their goodbyes to the city that had become their second home and returned to Portugal with memories that will last a lifetime.

Throughout their stay, the participants had the opportunity to complete their international internship in various local companies, developing professional skills while experiencing the Italian working environment. Beyond the workplace, the mobility programme encouraged personal growth, independence and intercultural understanding, allowing students to embrace a new culture, improve their communication skills and create meaningful friendships with people from different backgrounds.

Living in Rovigo for six weeks offered much more than professional experience. Participants explored the city’s history and traditions, discovered the beauty of the Veneto region and took part in numerous cultural and educational activities organised throughout the project. Every challenge became an opportunity to learn, adapt and grow both personally and professionally.

The final days in Italy were filled with emotion as students reflected on the incredible journey they had shared. Farewell moments with colleagues, tutors and new friends highlighted the strong bonds created during the mobility, demonstrating the true spirit of the Erasmus+ Programme: connecting cultures, building friendships and creating European citizens prepared for the future.

On 5 July, the group began their journey back to Porto, Portugal, carrying not only certificates and professional experience, but also unforgettable memories, greater confidence and a renewed perspective on Europe and international cooperation.

This mobility has once again shown that Erasmus+ is much more than an internship abroad. It is an opportunity to discover new cultures, develop essential life skills and create lifelong friendships that extend far beyond national borders.
